A transmission does not wait for a good week

We set up payment arrangements on bigger repairs so the car gets fixed now and the bill gets spread out. Ask about it when you get your quote.

Why we bother with this

The most expensive thing that happens to a car is not a repair. It is a repair that gets postponed. A slipping transmission driven for another three months is a rebuild instead of a solenoid. A head gasket left alone becomes a cracked head. An engine run low on oil becomes a short block.

When people put work off it is almost never because they do not believe the diagnosis. It is because the whole amount is not there this month. Splitting the bill turns a decision about money into a decision about the car, which is the decision that should have been made in the first place.

How it works here

  1. We diagnose and quote as normal

You get the fault, the fix and the price. The payment conversation does not change any of those numbers.

  2. Tell us the amount is a problem

Say so at the quote stage rather than at pickup. It is a normal conversation here and nobody will make it awkward.

  3. We work out an arrangement

We go through what is available for the size of the job and what it would actually cost you, so you can compare it against waiting.

  4. You approve the whole thing before we start

Repair, price and payment arrangement all agreed up front. Nothing gets turned before that.

Common questions

Do you offer payment plans on car repairs?

Yes. We set up payment arrangements on larger repairs so the work can happen now and the bill can be spread out. It is worth asking about at the point you get your quote rather than after, because the arrangement is agreed alongside the estimate.

What size of repair is worth asking about?

Anything where paying the whole amount at pickup would mean leaving the car sitting instead. In practice that is usually engine, transmission, timing and larger suspension jobs. There is no harm in asking on a smaller repair either.

Will you still tell me the price first?

Always. The payment arrangement is a separate conversation from the estimate, and it never changes the repair price. You approve the total before any work starts, exactly as you would if you were paying in one go.

What if the repair is not worth it on my car?

We will tell you. If the cost of the job is out of proportion to what the vehicle is worth, or the car has other problems that will land soon, a payment plan does not fix that and we would rather you heard it before spending. Sometimes the honest advice is to put the money elsewhere.

Start with the quote

Tell us the vehicle and the symptom. We will come back with what it is likely to be, and we can talk through payment at the same time.

Engine size too if you know it. It lets us check parts before we call you.

Putting off a repair because of the amount?

Call and say so. It is a normal conversation here, and it is usually cheaper than waiting.
